Mr Fausty David, Global Demand Planning Senior Manager of FCI Singapore gave a talk on Sales and Operations Planning. FCI is a connector (hardware) manufacturing company with more than 15 plants worldwide. In his talk, Fausty elaborated on how his company was able to successfully break the norm of over forecasting which usually leads to a large inventory. He explained the Bullwhip Effect of how a small change in consumer demand results in a big change in upstream manufacturing. Fausty went on to explain some of the key initiatives taken by his team in order to improve the sales and operations planning lifecycle resulting in improved forecast accuracy. The talk concluded with a Q&A session where the students raised many questions on this very interesting and relevant aspect of supply chain management.
