Faculty Positions – Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI) The Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI) is one of the centers of the MIT Global SCALE (Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence) Network an international alliance of leading-edge research and education centers, dedicated to the development and dissemination of global innovation in supply chain and logistics. Together, this network of centers educates hundreds of master’s students, doctoral candidates, and executives each year. MISI is recruiting for two faculty positions at the Associate and Assistant Professor Level to support research activities in the area of transportation logistics and supply chain management and to teach in the graduate (Master & PHD) and executive education programs at MISI

Responsibilities

Faculty members are responsible for advancing the center’s mission of excellence in education, research, and corporate engagement. All faculty members are expected to develop, design, and deliver world-class teaching material at the master and doctoral levels. As part of the research team, faculty members are responsible for creating, supporting, and disseminating new knowledge in logistics, supply chain management, and related fields. Faculty are expected to conduct high quality research in collaboration with industry and government; supervise theses; publish in top international journals, academic proceedings, trade journals, and working papers; and participate fully in all industrial and educational programs offered and supported by the MIT Global SCALE centers. Faculty members are expected to work with and be in regular contact with researchers, educators, and thought leaders (academic and industry) across the world, including researchers at MIT and the international MIT Global SCALE Network centers.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  1. A PhD in supply chain management, transportation, logistics, operations management, information systems, engineering, economics, business, or a related discipline;
  2. International exposure, reflected in publications, projects, conference participation and guest lectures;
  3. Ability to develop and deliver lectures and class material in English at the graduate level (both Masters and Doctoral);
  4. Ability to generate sponsored research and promote technology transfer and entrepreneurship;
  5. Ability to communicate with industry, give presentations, and lead meetings in English.

Special Officer for a multi initiative Oil Palm and Small Farmers Program

Job Title: Special Officer for a multi initiative Oil Palm and Small Farmers Program

This position is special officer position for a 12 month contract, renewable yearly at a research and teaching institute. Reporting directly to the director of the program, your main involvement will be with an Oil Palm related initiative in a team of around 15 to 20 researchers and field officers. An ideal candidate will have similar experience in an MNC and an academic institution. The company is based in Shah Alam, the special officer will be required to travel one or two days a week to the field areas in Johor.

Program Manager Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate on time delivery of quarterly milestones and deliverables for the program
  2. Develop operational plans for the program that can be tuned with time and changing customer expectations
  3. Developing and implementing strategy for the project team, understanding and highlighting risks, preparing mitigation plan
  4. Understanding different initiatives, their interlinkage and overlap – managing common resources across
  5. Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues
  6. Coordinating and running events and workshops
  7. Identifying opportunities for continual improvement
  8. Reporting on program performance to executive team and directors.
  9. Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle
  10. Detail Milestone monitoring and tracking
  11. Help preparation of quarterly invoices for the program deliverable

Special Officer Requirements

  1. Bachelor degree or master degree in business or related field.
  2. Understanding and Proven experience in program/project management.
  3. Expertise with one of the project management software tools like MS Project
  4. Candidates must possess at least bachelor’s degree or diploma in finance or equivalent
  5. Required language: Good spoken and written knowledge of English and Bahasa is MUST
  6. At least 3 year(s) working experience in a related field is required

Accounts Executive

Job Title: Accounts Executive

You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the full set of financial accounts including Accounts Payables & Receivables. You will also assist in handling the month/quarterly/annual end financial books closing tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle (AP, AR & Cash Book) and full set accounts
  • Timely preparation of monthly journal entries, reconciliation of accounts and related monthly financial statement schedules
  • Assist with timely & accurate month end closing
  • Perform filing and keep track of documentation
  • Assist in Fixed Asset Register
  • Ensure that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded
  • Assist in annual financial audits and corporate tax reporting

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Prepare and process monthly payments, manual/ad-hoc payment process and to ensure payments are up-to-date.
  • Prepare supplier reconciliation and investigate variances.
  • Follow up with the vendors and internal business department on invoices/approvals.
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
  • Perform month end closing for AP.
  • Maintain Vendor master file.

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Responsible for full spectrum of invoicing and AR functions, including billing/invoicing, AR monitoring, receipts, loan contracts preparations for students and credit notes processing.
  • Checking of all invoices, receipts and credit notes against supporting documents.
  • Ensure proper and accurate recording of accounting entries for invoices, receipts and credit notes.
  • Preparation of balance sheet schedules and performance of reconciliations for AR and other receivables accounts.
  • Timely distribution of statement of accounts to debtors.
  • Perform month end closing for AR.
  • Preparation of debtors ageing analysis.

Key Requirements

  • Professional Certificate or Degree in Finance / Accounting
  • At least three to five years' experience in preparing full set of accounts, Accounts payable and receivables
  • Proficient in Excel & Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Meticulous and attentive to detail
  • Well versed in financial accounting standards, having tax knowledge will be an added strength;
  • Sound regulatory knowledge to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company statutory regulations that are applicable to MISI
  • Proactive attitude, high level of integrity, and strong interpersonal skills

Marketing Executive for CSS

Job Title: Marketing Executive for CSS

The Center for Sustainable Value Networks or CSVN is a center of excellence at the Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI). CSVN has partnered with an MNC to create a program initiative called CSS or Center for Sustainable Small-owners. The CSS is aimed at safeguarding the interest of the independent smallholder farmers for oil palm while ensuring ethical and responsible sourcing for palm kernel oil with a commitment to no deforestation, no new plantation on peatlands and no exploitation in the supply chain.

As a multi-stakeholder program, CSS runs various sustainability initiatives such as:

  • Certification and Verification through MSPO, RSPO and Sustainability Scorecard
  • Scaling GAPs (Good Agricultural Practices) through Diffusion

Job Descriptions

The marketing executive’s role will develop efficient Marketing strategies and will promote these initiatives run by CSS through an active outreach and communication campaign.

  • Develop advertising/communication campaign of the CSS project on MISI Website, TV, Radio and other promotional media such as - online Blogs, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and similar tools
  • Contribute to quarterly newsletter and updates
  • Promote news events and stories through the program regularly
  • Organize promotional events, conferences, exhibitions, and workshops
  • Develop and organize internal /external such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions for CSS events.
  • Develop and coordinate marketing strategies for promoting all CSS events locally and internationally.
  • Maintain relationships with media vendors and publishers to ensure the promotion of CSS activities.
  • Develop and maintain the CRM database related to the CSS project.
  • Develop event brochures (Marketing materials) and others for the CSS projects.
  • Regularly update CEO and Director of CSS on marketing strategies, marketing spends plan and performance of CSS events.

Job Description

The Assistant Field Officer will be responsible to support all farm and non-farm related initiatives and provide operational support to officer(s) in charge.

  • Continuous engagement with existing and new Collection Centres(CC) and Dealerships to facilitate sustainability initiatives.
  • Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and prepares operational reports.
  • Build good relationship with project stakeholders i.e. local farmers, dealers, super dealers, govt. agencies, certification bodies, etc.
  • Establish continuous data collection from relevant project stakeholders i.e. Mills, CC, Super Dealer.
  • Supporting Smallholder Livelihood Improvement project based on set guidelines and goals.
  • Ready to be trained by Agronomist and Field officers and transfer knowledge to Learning Farms.
  • Coordinate and supervise sampling activities for Learning Farms.
  • Manage learning farms data collection on FFB Supply and Demand, nutrient management, water usage, fertilizer usage, harvesting cycle, Pesticide usage, etc
  • To support CSS team for organizing events such as, field visits, workshops, certification drive, etc.

Job requirements

  • Graduate from a standard vocational or high school supplemented by some college course work in agriculture; and extensive experience in general farm work involving farm planning, methods, and production; and experience in supervisory of farm work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Job Description

We are looking for a Marketing Executive – Webmaster to maintain websites and servers to meet our needs. You will be responsible for making sites easy to use, attractive and secure.

You should be detailed- oriented and well-versed in this role. You will ensure the functionality and efficiency of web infrastructure. Balancing a creative eye with an analytical mind is essential and have a strong technical background.

  • Maintain and update MISI websites (responsible for the technical aspects as well as posting content)
  • Continually upgrade the design, layout and coding of MISI website (incl. technical and graphical aspects)
  • Monitor and analyze site performance (i.e. website traffic)
  • Develop and maintain the current MISI website with updated news and events.
  • Have the ability to create and maintain MISI’s websites based on the requirements.
  • Able to create MISI newsletters for electronic distribution.
  • Demonstrate a creative mindset to enable innovative design and development of MISI Websites.
  • Minimum computer skills required include HTML, JAVA SCRIPT, CSS, MYSQL and PHP.
