Supply Chain Design in the Era of Volatility and Industry 4.0

“Dr. Javad Feizabadi spoke in Malaysia Supply Chain Summit on 25th July 2017 held in Melia Hotel Kuala Lumpur. His talk title was: “Supply chain design in the era of volatility and industry 4.0”. Designing the supply chains in the era of increased turbulence would require not only different tools and techniques but also a distinctive mindset. The mindset that embrace volatility as compared to the mentality to eradicate volatility.

The supply chains operate in the landscape with higher level of volatility compared to before 2008 financial meltdown period. Entering in 4th industrial revolution would provide an influential enabler to achieve strategic flexibility in supply chain design and management. The impact of volatility and new technologies (IoT, Blockchain, 3D printing, AI, Advanced data analytics etc) to accomplish higher level of flexibility in supply chain design was articulated in this presentation.”
