Program Overview

The MISI Certificate Short Courses is specifically designed and administered by MISI to teach the critical skills needed to be successful in this exciting and growing field. In addition to being a standalone certificate demonstrating expertise in the field, participants who complete all of the required courses and the final exam will be qualified for MISI Competency Certificates in Supply Chain Management and Procurement. All these courses would be offered in Online and Face-to-face formats.

All our short courses are under HRDCorp claimable course (SBL-Khas) scheme, subject to prior application to HRD Corp by the employers/companies.

Individual Short Courses

Our individual programs, taught by MISI faculty team and our allied industry experts, have been designed for supply chain executives worldwide, providing them with relevant and innovative topics, flexible learning options and networking opportunities. Supply Chain

Warehousing and Distribution Management

The aim of this course is to combine business objectives & logistics management to create uniquely effective and productive operations.

Negotiation

Introduction to negotiation in a procurement context (i.e., negotiations between a buyer and a vendor/supplier). The objective is to provide the participant with a structured foundation in the preparation and conduct of effective negotiations.

Total Cost Analysis

The focus is on developing the necessary skills to correctly evaluate total landed costs (TLC) and estimate total costs of ownership (TCO). The course also helps develop an understanding of key cost drivers in procurement.

Supplier Relationship Management

Several key elements of good supplier relationship management (SRM) will be discussed. The objective is to prepare participants to be conversant with SRM and develop capability to frame a SRM program for their suppliers.

Category Management

The participants will be introduced to category management in procurement. Category Management builds on the basics of good procurement practices to help companies generate additional value from their procurement process.

Forecasting and Inventory Management

Participants will be introduced to the practice of forecasting and inventory management and develop a broad overview of the various tools used in the industry.

Logistics and Transportation

Draw on real issues in transportation and logistics management that confront companies today. Topics include freight transportation, local routing, transportation procurement, and hub and transhipment strategies.

Halal Supply Chain

Halal Logistics

This course is designed to introduce the significance of the halal industry and concept of Halal logistics and its importance to suit today’s market demand. It demonstrates the logistics operations as a background followed by distinguishing the concept of logistics and supply chain management.

Halal Logistics From Shariah Perspectives

The course demonstrates the application of shariah in halal logistics by exploring its relationship with maqasid shariah, applying the shariah principles to all logistics activities. Accordingly, based on existing related fatwas, critical control points were identified from shariah perspectives.

Retail Halal Control Points

The course demonstrates the concept, main activities and core process in retailing as a background followed by the elaborations on significance of halal retailing as well as the need to implement halal retailing and its critical points. This course also highlights the requirements in getting the halal certification for retailing.

Halal Transportation

The course demonstrates the conventional transport operations as a background followed by the elaborations on significance of halal transportation as well as the need to implement halal transportation and its critical points. This course also highlights the requirements in getting the halal certification for transportation.

Halal Warehousing

The course demonstrates the conventional warehouse operations as a background followed by the elaborations on significance of halal warehousing as well as the need to implement halal warehousing and its critical points. This course also highlights the requirements in getting the halal certification for warehouse.

Sanitation Activities For Product Quality Assurance In Halal Logistics

The course demonstrates guidance to sanitation activities for quality assurance for the halal logistics operators. For halal logistics operators dealing with products such as foods, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods in particular, a commitment to quality is a paramount area of focus, as their end users directly consume or use the products.

Data Analytics

Data Analytics using Machine Learning Classifier

In the current digital and new norm era, large amounts of data, or Big Data can be analysed to gain insights which are useful for decision making. Data analytics is the science of analysing raw data in order to get meaningful information for decision making. Meanwhile, Big Data is characterized by different structured and different sources of mediums that can increase the data complexity.

Data Analytics and Visualizations using Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is widely used in industries, education sectors and business organizations. Excel is user friendly and serves as a tool for data analysis. This course provides introduction to the basic functions of Excel as well as performing data analysis using statistical techniques to gain insights from data. The ultimate of the course would be creating the dashboard for the visualisation of the data.

    The courses in this program are best suited for managers and senior managers from manufacturing, logistics, information technology and service industries who are responsible for developing and executing supply chain strategy. Professionals who are looking to develop functional understanding of supply chains or are in existing supply chain roles will benefit from this program.

    The classes consist of formal lectures, case study discussions, and hands-on exercises. In some courses, e-learning material will be provided to the participants prior to the in-class sessions. The classes will be taught with active learning methodology. Using in class discussions, real life case studies, hands-on exercises, and team activities, participants learn through solving problems and getting rapid feedback from faculty and peers.

    The duration of each course will be either 1 or 2 days. There will usually be four class sessions per day, each of 1.5 hours with a 30 minute break between sessions.

    The location will be the MISI campus in Shah Alam or Online.

    A certificate from MISI will be provided upon the successful completion of all the sessions in either a one-day or two-day program.
